Lyrics to the USF Golden Brahman March (Fight Song):
USF Bulls are we,
We hold our standard upright and free.
For Green and Gold we stand united.
Our beacon lighted and noble to see.
USF Bulls are we,
For USF will always be.
With all our might we fight the battle
here and now, and we will win the victory!
Shout: S-O-U-T-H F-L-O-R-I-D-A
South Florida, South Florida
Go Bulls!
(return to chorus)
Alma Mater
Hail to Thee, our Alma Mater
May thy name be told,
Where above thy gleaming splendor,
Waves the green and gold.
Thou our guide in quest for knowledge.
Where we all are free
University of South Florida,
Alma Mater, Hail to thee!
Be our guide in truth and wisdom
As we onward go,
May thy glory, fame and honor
Never cease to grow;
May our thoughts and prayers
be with thee through eternity,
University of South Florida,
Alma Mater, Hail to thee!

After selling out its initial allotment to the Florida State football game in Tallahassee on Sept. 26, the University of South Florida ticket office has put additional tickets on sale on GoUSFBulls.com until June 22, 2009.
Fans can log on to GoUSFBulls.com right now and purchase tickets. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis but the seating priority will be given exclusively to season ticket holders, Bulls Club donors and USF alumni.
“The Florida State tickets have moved quickly for the last three weeks and the amount of support made it clear we need to procure additional tickets,” said USF Executive Associate Athletics Director Bill McGillis. “Based on the fact that the number of tickets requested by our fans during the initial selling period far exceeded the number of tickets available at that time, we expect that these additional 2500 tickets will move very quickly.
“It is clear that Tampa Bay is excited about this matchup and we thank our counterparts at Florida State for their assistance in providing additional tickets for our fan base.”
USF received an initial allotment of 5,000 tickets and received an additional 2,500.
Tickets are $52 each including a $3 Ticketmaster charge. If you purchase tickets, you will be notified when they can be picked up at the Athletics Ticket Office in the Sun Dome. Tickets may also be mailed for an additional charge. A signature will be required to receive tickets through the mail.
If you have ticket questions about the Florida State game or any other ticket inquiries, please call the USF ticket staff Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at 1-800-GoBulls. Information on student tickets to the USF-Florida State game will be announced in the near future. The kickoff time for the Florida State game is yet to be determined and could be announced within 13 days of Sept. 26.
TAMPA — A veteran defensive coordinator, synonymous with a Tampa team’s consistent football success, makes a surprising jump at a new challenge and the rare chance to coach alongside one of his sons.
Much like the Bucs’ Monte Kiffin leaving for Tennessee, defensive coordinator Wally Burnham, a USF assistant for nine seasons, is leaving to take the same job at Iowa State. Joining him in Ames as his defensive tackles coach will be his youngest son, Shane, a defensive assistant at Division I-AA Elon.
Burnham and his wife, Barbara, visited Ames over the weekend, and he accepted Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads’ offer Tuesday morning. The decision to leave USF wasn’t an easy one.
“It was hard, there’s no doubt about it,” Burnham said. “You stay nine years at a place, you’re going to get close to a lot of people, the coaches, players, everyone. You can’t stay nine years at a place and not become a part of it. … We went out there and just had a real good feel for the place. It just seemed like the right thing to do.”
Players were told Tuesday afternoon, and the news was hard to take, All-America defensive end George Selvie said.
“It hit us pretty hard; everybody’s devastated,” Selvie said. “He’s a great person. He wasn’t just your coach, but a friend, a mentor, someone who really cared about you.”
Burnham was the Bulls’ highest-paid assistant, making $220,000 last season, and his departure leaves USF without either coordinator less than three weeks before the start of spring practice. Offensive coordinator Greg Gregory was demoted and subsequently left to become offensive coordinator at South Alabama.
